Keeping Employees & Customers Safe
Today, Governor Pritzker's extension of his Shelter in Place Executive Order takes effect. The order has been revised to allow for businesses to begin to operate a bit more broadly than the previous month, but with the next step in our road to recovery comes the need for businesses to protect the health and well being of their employees and customers.
The Rockford Area Economic Development Council (RAEDC) & Rockford Chamber of Commerce are encouraging businesses and individuals to comply with the Executive Order, which should allow us to continue to flatten the curve, keep people safe, and work toward additional recovery and reopening measures.
With this in mind, we are reminding businesses of the following:
• Effective today, anyone over the age of 2 & medically able to tolerate a face-covering or mask, must wear a mask in public places in which they are not able to maintain 6 ft of distance at all times.
• Businesses must require all who enter (including employees) wear a face cover or mask. Businesses are highly encouraged to self-police this new requirement to ensure everyone remains as safe as possible in the work place while also allowing our law enforcement officers to focus on other important safety issues.
• Per CDC guidelines, cloth masks should fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face, be secured with ties or ear loops, include multiple layers of fabric, allow for breathing without restriction and be able to be laundered and machine dried without damage.
To help Illinois businesses keep their employees and customers safe, The RAEDC is aggregating orders for personal protective equipment (PPE) on behalf of the region. These are not for donation and there will be a cost associated with purchasing these items. Additional details will be posted soon.
If your company needs PPE, complete this form letting the RAEDC know the quantity required.
Thank you in advance for keeping your employees, customers and our community safe by adhering to the Governor's Executive Order. Please let us know how we can be of service to you as we continue to work towards safely reopening.
